THESE ARE THE MINUTES OF A SPECIAL COMMON COUNCIL MEETING OF THE 27TH COMMON COUNCIL, HELD AT 6:00 P.M., TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2006, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF BROOKFIELD CITY HALL, 2000 N. CALHOUN ROAD, BROOKFIELD, WISCONSIN

 

MAYOR JEFF SPEAKER PRESIDING

 

ALDERMEN PRESENT:  Scott Berg, Gary Mahkorn, Steve Ponto, Dan Sutton, Rick Owen, James Garvens, Bill Carnell, Bob Reddin, Jerry Mellone, Lisa Mellone, Ron Balzer, Mark Nelson

 

ALDERMEN ABSENT & EXCUSED:  Christopher Blackburn, Mike Franz

 

ALSO PRESENT:  Director of Administration Dean Marquardt, City Clerk Kristine Schmidt, Police Chief Dan Tushaus

 

Mayor Jeff Speaker called the Common Council to order at approximately 6:00 p.m.

 

Alderman Bob Reddin led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.


 

ACTIONS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL

 

The next item was the request of the Thomson Corporation, 12760 W. North Ave., for approval of a Temporary Use permit to use a portion of the Sendik's Towne Centre shopping center, 18915 W. Capitol Drive, for purposes of conducting an Art Fair on June 3 and June 4, 2006 (previously held at Stonewood Village).

 

The Plan Commission recommended approval of the application for a temporary use permit at Towne Centre, 18915 W. Capitol Drive, for purposes of conducting an art fair on June 3 and June 4, 2006, with the following provisions:  (1) No parking on Richland Parkway; (2) Thomson Corporation would pay for any police overtime; and (3) Recreational vehicles will be parked behind Building "NPQ".  In addition, this should be a one-time permit and the applicant will have to re-apply for next year's event so the City could evaluate the event.

 

            Alderman Ponto moved approval of the Plan Commission recommendation. The motion was seconded by Alderman Mahkorn and carried unanimously.

 

 

Alderman Berg moved to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was seconded by Alderman Sutton and carried unanimously.  6:07 p.m.
