26th Council Meeting Attendance 

April 4, 2006 - Approved labor contracts, approved Mitchell's Fish Market & Fresh Market at mall, moved surplus from 2005 to other funds, City Attorney Vince Moschella resigns.

March 21, 2006 - Allow St. Dominic's to build prayer garden, permit new Panera Bread on Greenfield Ave., routine transfer of funds to adjust budget, initial authorization for borrowing (bonds), accept contracts for police and fire unions,  award contracts for road repairs and striping, move time for next meeting (election night), allow phased construction of new McDonald's on Moorland Rd.

March 7, 2006 - Bought trucks and squad cars, spent money for Greenway Corridor, renewed contract for swimming pool concessions.

February 21, 2006 - Public hearing on proposed new McDonald's on Moorland Road, accepted grant to pay for police overtime for traffic law enforcement, approved sewer project for Indianwood subdivision that will also allow the start of Georgetown Square condo construction, approval of new buildings by mall, approval of Erbary Place, approval of new building on Capitol Drive originally rejected by Council

February 7, 2006 - Approved construction of artificial heron nesting nests, approval of Fairview North, changed landscaping rules to prevent another ugly mansion, approved study to design but not build until need the south Calhoun Road turn lanes.

January 17, 2006 - Changed fees for various city services (permits, inspections, etc.), extended lease for land under Dousman-Dunkel-Behling house, remanded proposal for new Capitol Drive building, revised policy allowing candidates for elected office to televise debates, approved Village Neighborhood Plan, tabled decision on Calhoun Road widening.

January 3, 2006 - Closed session discussing pending litigation and other issues with the Town of Brookfield.

December 20, 2005 - Approved public hearing on Moorland Road McDonald's remodeling, approved annual agreement with Elmbrook Humane Society, delayed decision on changing city car policy, approved flying POW/MIA flag, delayed action on Calhoun Road widening, over ride veto of Mayor's salary.

December 6, 2005 - Public hearing on Erbary Place, presentation on Brookfield Village Neighborhood Plan, sent Village plan back to committee, set Aldermans salary, set Mayor's salary, settled lawsuit against state regarding sewage dumping by MMSD, closed session on Calhoun Road legal action.

November 15, 2005 - Public hearing on 2006 city budget, authorized use change of Chi-Chi's building to two new restaurants, allow construction of Panera's on Greenfield Ave., discussion of Elmbrook Hospital's unauthorized landscaping and flood management changes, bought new microphones for Council room, schedule (another) public hearing for Fairview Center project, approved enw gas station on Moorland and Blue Mound, adopted 2006 city budget, approved staff salaries for 2006, delayed elected official's salary decision.

November 1, 2005 - Public hearing on new gas station on Moorland and Blue Mound, purchased computer network upgrades, position ordinance changed to allow a hiring freeze.

October 18, 2005 - Presentation of study on city/town joint services, approved garbage collection contract, sent POW/MIA flag policy back to committee.

October 4, 2005 - Approved an enormous residential retaining wall, combined Sewer and Water Boards, authorized televising of county elected official debates.

September 20, 2005 - Several actions regarding south Brookfield Road near Greenfield, extended closing date on sale of properties on Burleigh and Calhoun,  created the HRPS committee, report announcing end of Pewaukee-Brookfield Joint Fire Station Initiative, announced creation of a new fire service task force.

September 6, 2005 - Wilson Art Center annual report, Fairview Centre public hearing, increased money for gasoline, authorized two fireman to serve in New Orleans, redundant legislation regarding eminent domain.

August 16, 2005 - Changed city curfew ordinance, Ald. Blackburn makes referral to fly POW-MIA flag closed session on lawsuit filed by Town of Brookfield against the City of Brookfield regarding sewer connections.  POTTYGATE!

July 19, 2005 - Authorized buying salt for winter, re-approve public hearing for Fairview Center, authorized lots of routine purchases.

June 21, 2005 - Authorized issuance of debt to protect city's ability to borrow, lots of liquor licenses, accepting utilities built as part of Haven subdivision, approve public hearing for granting a PDD for Fairview Center project.

June 7, 2005 - Presentation of audit of city funds, presentation on Calhoun Rd. closure, bought land to expand Endicott Park, install fence around Mitchell Park dog walk area, approved Century Centre plan & method of operation

May 17, 2005 - Sold lots on Burleigh & Calhoun, appointed plan commissioners, approved Century Centre survey map.

May 3, 2005 - Granted special exception for non-conforming use, Approved annexation of Finger property, DUELING MINUTES, selected brokers for managing city reserves, bought new police cars,  continued participation in boondoggle lawsuit, made special payment for police injured while serving as reserve marine in Iraq.

April 19, 2005 - Mark Nelson sworn in as 4th District Alderman, recognized police and fire departments for their performance during March 12 shootings, approved Liberty Plaza building upgrade, awarded contracts for painting stripes in streets, approved committee appointments,  approved three new buildings on northwest corner of mall property, refinanced bonds at lower rate, approved hiring marketing consultant for attracting new businesses, approved water main installation on Capitol Drive, Fiebrantz Drive and Melvina Drive.

April 5, 2005 - Approved sponsorship of Sister City Youth Camp, recognized 35 years of service from Bill Winget, authorized mosquito control for summer, approved initial resolutions to borrow money for capital (sewer, water, roads, etc.) projects

March 15, 2005 - Public hearing for new buildings located at southwest corner of Brookfield Mall, moment of silence for victims of March 12, 2005 hotel shooting, award contracts for road construction, approval of new building at Towne Center (Brookfield Road and Capitol Drive), award contract to study shared services with Town of Brookfield, closed session discussion on purchase of park property at Endicott Park (on southwest corner of Calhoun Road and I-94). 

March 1, 2005 - Approved developer's agreement for Georgetown Square, modified illumination ordinance, multiple Mayor's appointments of citizens to committees, commendations to long time employees.

February 15, 2005 - Public hearing on illumination code, approved buying library books, moved money between accounts to recognize routine financial transactions in 2004, approved contracts designing south Calhoun Road widening and a bridge at I-94.

February 1, 2005 - Presentation on city water supply, approved hearing for Brookfield Mall area stores, appointed Kevin Beck as city IT director, amended fence code, moved final approval of master plan from the Plan Commission to the Council.

January 18, 2005 - Bought road salt, bought water meters, restricted use of PODS, accepted developer financed sewer, water and road in Weston Heights, recognized transfer of sewer capacity from New Berlin to Town of Brookfield, changed rules on splitting big lots into little lots.

January 4, 2005 - Cancelled

December 21, 2004 - Approved budget changes to recognize refinancing of bonds used for Wilson Center mortgage, approved Schlossman auto dealership at Capitol Dr. & Brookfield Rd., approval of revised plan for Brookfield Junction, changed building code for guest houses, referred fence code changes back to committee, cancelled next meeting.

December 7, 2004 - Appointments to Ethics Committee, modify city ethics code, table portable storage container ordinance

November 16, 2004 - Accepted grant to improve water supply security, approved 2005 police union contract, approved 2005 budget, approved position ordinance, referred ordinance moving approval of the City Master Plan from the Plan Commission to the Council, approved person for Landfill/Moratorium Committee.

November 2, 2004 - Refinanced Wilson Art Center debt, override of Mayor's veto of video gaming machines

October 19, 2004 - Changed political sign ordinance, approve limitations on enforcement for video gaming machines, approve grading in Shire, create Shire environmental monitoring committee

October 5, 2004 - Applied for a grant to study merging with the Town of Brookfield, sent the Plan Commission task prioritization back for more study, tabled debate on video gaming, kept the IT Director position,  tabled creating a task force to monitor The Shire, approved televising Plan Commission meetings

September 21, 2004 - Recognized employees of International Trucking of Brookfield for saving the life of a fellow employee, tabled changing meeting schedules.

September 7, 2004 - Passed strategic plan

August 17, 2004 - Corrected city zoning map, hired some lawyers for a boondoggle, approved TID #3 (Brookfield Mall area), created a task force to improve televising city meetings.

July 20, 2004 - First use of consent agenda, changed title for city clerk, approved fence for St. John Vianney's school, modified licensing for ice cream vendors, approved indemnification agreement for Shire neighborhood property, partially reversed previous month's ordinance placing signs near Fox Brook Park, attempted to order televising of Plan Commission meetings, first use of period for aldermen to make requests from the floor for future action.

June 15, 2004 - First video recorded Council meeting!  Appointed Vince Moschella as City Attorney, modified the Kinsey Park section of the Greenway Corridor and awarded the contract to build the trail, special reimbursement to Tobie Tyler for making his home handicapped accessible, numerous citizen committee appointments.

June 1, 2004 - Appointed Beverly Wentz to 4th district seat, bought a fire truck, appointed citizen board members.

May 18, 2004 - Approved loading ramp addition to Roundy's at Capitol & Calhoun, authorized bond sale, changed fence ordinance to allow garden fences, declared National Public Works Week.

May 4, 2004 - Appointed committees, gave service commendations upon retirement for Sue Schalig and Ron Balzer.

April 20, 2004 - Inauguration night, elected Council President, denied Deer Creek Plaza development, approved various public works projects, approved commendations for outgoing alderman Wolff, Shaw and Clappier.
