Brookfield has been my home since 1987. My wife and I bought our first house here. We're raising our daughters here. I now live, shop, attend church and do almost everything else in Brookfield. Becoming involved in city government is my way of thanking the community for all that I have enjoyed, and doing everything I can to make Brookfield even better for my family and yours.

Ald. Berg's Guiding Principles
It is impossible to predict every possible topic that will come to the Common Council in coming years. Even if you had some insight, how could you you know now every detail you need to make a specific promise on how you will vote? The best I can do is to make some promises about what I think the proper role of government is and how I will make decisions.

Public safety is paramount. That means police, fire and ambulance service must be first rate all the time.

Brookfield is no longer a cornfield. We have to balance the impact of 40,000 residents against the long term environmental impact.

- Two daughters graduated from Elmbrook Schools and now attending Carroll University
- Moved to Brookfield in August, 1987, living in the Indianwood subdivision
- Moved to Coach House Village subdivision in October, 1998
Civic Experience
- Brookfield 5th District Alderman (April, 2000 - now)
- I was fortunate enough to be one of the two people selected from a field of four well qualified candidates in the 2000 election. I was re-elected in 2002 and 2004. I have served on the Finance Committee, Personnel Committee, Board of Public Works, Sewer Board (Chairman), Water Board (Chairman), Library Board of Trustees, Board of Zoning Appeals, IT Subcommittee, Uniform Fire Service Review Task Force and RV Task Force.
- Brookfield United Citizens (BUC)
- Cofounder of a Brookfield based civic group providing a forum for learning about topics of community interest and assisting interested people in becoming involved in community affairs.
- Coach House Village Association (CVA)
- Board member of neighborhood association. CVA administers landscaping of common neighborhood areas and provides many neighborhood social gatherings.
- Indianwood Advancement Association (IAA)
- Board member of neighborhood association. Leader of a neighborhood task force that helped to negotiate a proposed 11-story hotel abutting the neighborhood into a more suitably scaled project.
